WOMEN'S' WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
- 6TH MARCH 2009 |
|
Women’s World Day of Prayer
was held on Friday, 6th March. The host country this year was Papua New
Guinea, a country made up of 600 islands. The women of Papua New Guinea
wrote the service which was used all around the world.
This year it was the turn of Sacred Heart Church to host the other Henley
churches. The service was supplemented by a talk from a young lady by name
of Narelle Chidwick who had lived in Papua New Guinea for some years and now
lives in Henley. Ladies of the parish made efforts to represent life in
Papua New Guinea with painted oars, fruit baskets, flowers and shells.
Following the service we enjoyed tea and delicious cakes in the parish hall
where we had a slide show to give us an insight into life there.
The photograph shows Narelle, front left and Anne Sanders, our organiser,
back right with ladies from other Henley Churches.
