What is Children's liturgy ?
The term "the liturgy" normally
refers to a standardized order of events observed during a religious service.
The Liturgy of the Word, is where we
listen to the readings from the bible, the days Gospel & the Priest's Homily,
who interprets the readings into our daily Christian life.
"Children's Liturgy"
is the "Liturgy of the Word" for Children, where we introduce the children to
the format of Mass in a gentle, structured way. We read the Gospel at a much
easier level so that the children can understand and enjoy its teaching. We
encourage the children to discuss the Gospel and their own experiences. We say a
selection of prayers & sing songs using musical instruments. We aim to raise
awareness of God's love in the world & Jesus' mission on earth. We also discuss
the Holy Days, and explain the symbols used in the Mass.
Our aim is to make the children's
experience of church interesting & meaningful, helping their faith to grow
in the
Catholic Church, so they can develop as full and active members of our Parish.
Children must be registered before
attending Children's Liturgy.
The Children's Liturgy group meet on Sunday Mornings, in the Day Chapel,
just before commencement of the 10:30am Mass.
All volunteers who help run the
Group, have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.
